Are these "truisms" fact or fiction???
1. Get on top of the ball.
2. Pull your glove to your hip.
3. Left-hander left side of the rubber.

This is an excerpt from the upcoming book Arm Action, Arm Path, and the Perfect Pitch: Building the Million Dollar Arm, by Tom House and Doug Thorburn
The conventional wisdom of stay tall and get on top is intended to help pitchers to generate downward plane, altering the trajectory of the ball to make life tougher on hitters. If this sounds familiar, then you've been paying good attention, because it's very similar to the logic behind Left-hander to the left side of the rubber, Right-hander to the right side. Coaches will often encourage anything that a pitcher can do to manipulate the incoming trajectory of the ball from the hitter's standpoint. Just as with Lefty to the left side, these strict rules can get in the way of what a pitcher does naturally, and potentially create more of an obstacle for the player than a benefit. Another thing these conventional ideas have in common is that they are flawed functionally as well as mechanically. Learn more about "staying tall"...
In Search of the Perfect Delivery
By Karl Meinhardt National Pitching Association
The longer my time in the baseball business, the more times I hear the NPA staff asked if they have identified the 'perfect delivery.' Let's face it, the NPA has one of the most advanced systems for performing research in the business today. We can capture a pitcher's delivery in our motion analysis system and look at it from every angle possible. We identify efficiency of motion, timing of sequence and even point out precursors to injury. We compare fastball, breaking ball and off-speed deliveries for differences. We measure angles of rotation, distance of stride, angular momentum, velocity and more! But the Perfect Delivery? Hmmm…let's think about that for a moment. Learn more about what makes a delivery "perfect"...
How to Rebuild Your Pitching Staff...and Win!
By Karl Meinhardt National Pitching Association
February in Boise, Idaho is hardly what one thinks of when thinking about the upcoming baseball season. There is still snow on the ground, snow in the forecast, and the air temperature gives new meaning to the term warm-up. Yet on any given Tuesday in February you can find Bishop Kelly (BK) High School pitching coach Hank Jacobsen and me at our favorite coffee spot, Starbucks on State Street. The upcoming season at BK was the topic of many a discussion this past winter as Hank was facing a daunting challenge; a seriously inexperienced pitching roster for the upcoming season. Hank was adamant about the upcoming season being a 'rebuilding year' as many of his big gun seniors had left with offers from various Universities around the nation. With the loss of BK's top pitchers in 2007 two lefties that went on to Oregon State with a combined two year domination of the league with almost 40 wins and 3 losses and a combined era under 1.50, a strike out walk ratio of almost 5 to 1, 9 shutouts, 5 one-hitters, and speeds of 92 and 85, how could BK continue were they left off? "It's going to be a challenge." speculated Hank... Find out how the season turned out!
